Alzheimer's Disease Treatment

My practice has specialized programs for the assessment and treatment of Alzheimer's Disease and other dementias. There are new and promising treatments for prevention and for treatment. For information, please refer to the appropriate links under patient education resources, located on my home page.

Pain Management

Many patients with orthopedic, neurosurgical, and neurological syndromes suffer chronic pain. For those patients for whom further surgical intervention is not recommended or is contraindicated, and for patients with painful neuropathies, comprehensive pain management is necessary.

For some patients, narcotic analgesics are appropriate. Some patients, however, develop tolerance to the analgesic effect of narcotics. For those patients, my practice offers safe and effective detoxification with buprenorphine. Information on buprenorphine may be found on the opiate detoxification web link on my home page under PATIENT EDUCATION RESOURCES.

Subsequent treatments are necessary:

Kelly Zinna, PsyD. specializes in Behavioral Medicine. Techniques utilized by Dr. Zinna with chronic pain patients include: BIOFEEDBACK; HYPNOSIS; RELAXATION TECHNIQUES; VISUALIZATION; DISTRACTION TECHNIQUES; and COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY.

Chronic pain may be accompanied by depressive symptoms. At our research site, Clinical Insights, Dr. Adler has been a Principal Investigator in research suggesting that certain NEW ANTIDEPRESSANTS may reduce pain as well as treat concurrent mood disorders. Dr. Adler is certified in Clinical Psychophamacology, and provides PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGIC MANAGEMENT for chronic pain patients.

It is our philosophy that such treatment requires a cohesive team effort including psychiatry, behavioral medicine, treating surgeons, neurologists and internists, rehabilitation specialists, physical therapists, and other specialists.
